Anthony Basile CPA, P.C.


Dr. Basile is licensed as a Certified Public Accountant and credentialed as a Certified Valuation Analyst (CVA) and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Dr. Basile is also a professor at Hofstra University teaching courses in forensic accounting, fraud, auditing, and taxation for undergraduate and graduate students. Dr. Basile's doctoral dissertation won a national research award and his other research has been published in accounting, taxation, education and legal journals. His article on no-fault insurance fraud was cited by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Dr. Basile is frequently quoted in Long Island Business News, Newsday and the New York Times. He also frequently lectures to business groups, makes numerous television and radio appearances on topics such as business valuations, retirement planning, the forensic accountant's role in litigation, stock options, divorce settlements, federal government shutdowns, sales tax issues and the accountant's role as business advisor. He is an expert witness in court cases involving business valuations. Based on that expertise, Dr. Basile was the technical writer for the accounting profession's one and only business valuation standard, the AICPA's SSVS#l.

Dr. Basile is the Past President of the Nassau Chapter of the New York State Society of CPA's and is a Board Member of the New York State Board of Public Accountancy, a regulatory Board of the Regents of the State of New York.

Jaimie Tavernite, Office Manager

Prior to joining Anthony Basile CPA, PC as an Administrative Assistant in July of 2017, Jaimie spent 10 years at a Workers’ Compensation law firm in their Settlement Department. She began her career in the late 1980s as an Executive Administrative Assistant in corporate finance, which she left in 2000 to work as an administrative assistant in her local church so she could be close to home and raise her two children. Jaimie is currently attending Nassau Community College to obtain her Associate’s Degree in Accounting.

Debbie LaFemina, Bookkeeper

Debbie LaFemina has been working as an Administrative Assistant for Anthony Basile CPA, PC since 2005. She graduated Suffolk Community College with an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration. Prior to working for our firm Debbie was a stay at home mom to her five children. Her responsibilities include, but are not limited to, accounts payables/receivables, preparing write-ups and assistance with tax return preparation.
